Finding good food at a reasonable price in London is no small feat, especially when you're looking for sit-down restaurants rather than market stalls. After two years of trial and error, Ive' discovered some incredible spots that I would wholeheartedly recommend to friends visiting London.

🚨Pro Tips for Dining Out in London🚨

  • 🍷Drinks: Alcohol in restaurants can be pricey. I usually stick to a single glass of wine or, if it’s a group gathering, split a bottle with friends.

  • 🍽️Reservations: Walk-ins are rarely successful. Always make a reservation in advance!

I tried their brunch, and honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. Their famous muffin sandwich was soggy and overrated. However, their à la carte menu is a game-changer.

Must-Try: The cod's head with its rich, flavourful sauce. I also ordered crispy potatoes, but Kitty Fisher's version wins this round.

Coal Office restaurant $$

Tired of queuing at Dishoom in Kings Cross for dinner? (By the way, Dishoom is overrated in my opinion.) Coal Office Restaurant is a fantastic alternative.

Highlights: Modern Middle Eastern-inspired cuisine with a chic ambiance. Perfect for a more refined dining experience without the wait.

The quality chop $$$

Meat lovers, this is your spot! Located next to their wine bar, this restaurant offers a wide range of delicious meats.

Must-Try: Their Sunday roast is on my must-try list.

Tip: Pair your meal with one of their curated wines for a perfect experience.

St John wine and bread $$

This bistro is ideal for sharing plates. Portions are small, so if you’re with a big group, you can easily sample everything on the menu.

Must-Try: Their freshly baked Madeleines are the best I've ever had. Don't skip their bread—it's soft, puffy, and delicious. The octopus is another standout dish.

Bonus: They also sell wine and pastries, so grab some to-go from their East London or Covent Garden locations.

Kitty Fisher $$$

This Mayfair gem gained fame thanks to a Hong Kong YouTuber, Bob Your Uncle. Spotting fellow Hong Kongers speaking Cantonese is a good sign you've found the right place! 😏

Must-Try: Their steaks and crispy potatoes are incredible.

Seating: It's a cozy space with a downstairs area and outdoor seating. Large group gatherings might be challenging here. (Based on my visit in summer 2022.)
